bookshop (bookstore) bookmarks

This is my most favourite bookmark genre!
“When I visit a new bookstore, I demand cleanliness, computer monitors, and rigorous alphabetization.
When I visit a secondhand bookstore, I prefer indifferent housekeeping, sleeping cats, and sufficient organizational chaos...”
~ Anne Fadiman,

Adyar Bookshops

Picture
This bookmark from 1991, obtained by me from the Adyar Bookshop in the State Theatre Building, Sydney, one of my all-time favourite bookshops, is very special to me and I treasure it greatly.  I visited this Adyar Bookshop many times over the years to pore over their amazing book collection and other resources.  I would often read books in the store and I also, over the years, purchased a lot of books, music, cards, posters, etc., from them.  I deeply know that the books I purchased from Adyar were an important part of my spiritual growth and personal evolution.

When Adyar Bookshop moved to Clarence Street, Sydney and later on to Bathurst Street, Sydney I followed them and kept browsing and purchasing!  Even when I lived away form Sydney I would always make time to visit Adyar Bookshop whenever I was in the city on business or pleasure.

Sadly, Adyar Booksops have now closed their doors in Sydney.

Here is an interesting storr on the closure of Sydney's  Adyar Bookshop:

Reincarnation may have caused death of New Age bookshop (SMH)

PS:  I also love this bookmark because it celebrates and acknowledges the 100th Anniversary of the amazing esotericist H.P. Blavatsky.
