SOURCE: Purchased and Donations Update and reposting of original blog post of 27 October 2015, as I have now collected more of these beautiful bookmarks. I purchased these three delightful vintage bookmarks from a dealer at the Clunes Book Fair in 2015. They were published by the Australian Library Promotion Council and depict three iconic Australian animals, the koala, ringtail possum and platypus. I have since collected several more of the beautiful bookmarks in this series and am always on the lookout for more. I have been unable to find out how many different designs were produced. So, if you know of any others, please do let me know. Thank you. Australian Library Week was first celebrated in 1968 under the auspices of the Australian Library Promotion Council. The Council, which was founded in 1948, folded in the late 1980s. After an intermission of some years, the Australian Library and Information Association assumed responsibility for Australian Library Week. The Australian Library Promotion Council also published another series of bookmarks titled" Another Great Australian Imprint: Free Libraries"
