These bookmarks are a great example of how bookmarks can be used to convey important messages, knowledge and wisdom.
...and in keeping with this theme, I also love this bookmark I received in my WOBODA Bookmark Raffle win, "I Read Banned Books" (no publisher details). Indeed, I have / indeed I do! This is a really interesting list of banned books; some not surprising and some surprising! Of course, sometimes the book was only banned in certain countries or in certain years. If you want to read more about banned books, this Wikipedia article and its list of banned books is an interesting read: "Banned books are books or other printed works such as essays or plays which are prohibited by law or to which free access is not permitted by other means. The practice of banning books is a form of censorship, from political, legal, religious, moral, or (less often) commercial motives. This article lists notable banned books and works, giving a brief context for the reason that each book was prohibited. Banned books include fictional works such as novels, poems and plays and non-fiction works such as biographies and dictionaries." (Wikipedia) |
